Over the years, I’ve watched candidate after candidate join our council with empty and repetitive promises. We hear the same broad ideas over and over again: make our neighborhoods safer, reduce crime, bring jobs, and reduce homelessness. They’re all good ideas, but saying “I want to make Modesto safer” is not the same as having real strategies to get the job done. I’ve started my campaign with 100 ideas to build on and inspire this community to start moving Modesto upwards. Some are big, some are small, all can have a positive impact.
Adding temporary dog parks is a fantastic way to keep people moving throughout the community and inspire new dog parks to be built.
Creating incentive programs that are well known and easily accessed will encourage residents to make home improvements that benefit the community as a whole, such as the TURF program.
The economic impact of Graffiti can't be argued. It's time to bring back real, old-school Graffiti that the whole community can participate in.
We need to encourage our kids and our community to participate in the tech economy. An app competition shines a spotlight on the opportunities available in this industry and inspires creativity.
Officials tell us why not. It's time to say why yes. In addition change zoning codes to allow tiny houses to be built in back yards to increase housing units.
City contracts pump millions into firms outside Modesto every year. The city needs to do a better job of publicizing contracts here to attract local bids.
Modesto has historically been the home of amazing marching and music programs - and we can bring that spotlight back. A nationwide parade festival is good family fun that anyone can enjoy.
Offer qualifying tech businesses 2 years free office, phone, and internet in downtown.
Make Mistletoe abatement our mission. Dramatically increase the database of contractors to service mistletoe - offer city equipment / training / insurance to reduce costs to homeowners and save trees. Research new lower cost solutions.

The LGBTQ community is still discriminated against in our community. We need to show that Modesto accepts, loves, and supports everyone. Because love is love.
Change zoning and encourage shopping centers and malls to develop residential / affordable housing.
On a monthly or weekly basis produce a Downtown Drive In Movie to celebrate our Graffiti culture.
Our first city flag served us well, but Modesto has grown up a lot since 1988. Let's update the design to match the new direction of our city.

Modesto's Gay Pride celebrates community and self acceptance and the achievements and rights of LGBTQ+ members of our city. We should support pride with marketing, logistics, and funding.
Develop a Trip Park River Walk. This should include riverside businesses, residences, and access to public transport.
The City needs to take pride in its creative industries. Modesto has a fashion industry and it needs to be nourished, publicized, and developed. A Designer of the Year should be named every year.

As revenue continues to move towards the internet more retail spaces will inevitably become available. We can kill two birds with one stone, retail vacancy and affordable housing by changing the code now.
Make a sign out of old cars as you enter town welcoming visitors and residents to Modesto, the home of American Graffiti.
It's important to represent all parts of our community on boards and commissions. We also need a minority police advisory board.
Make road improvement timelines and schedules public and easier to access. Ask for community input online on current and planned projects.
Cities aren’t just about disasters and water bills, they are also about good news, events, and promoting local business.
Raise the TOT Tax and use the money to actually develop tourism, entertainment and culture.
Serial car thieves are the source of the majority of the auto thefts in our community. Build on current solutions and suggest new ones.
Create a Public Private Partnership to make an Interpretive Nature Program on the Dry Creek Trail to focus on helping people enjoy their time outdoors while also learning about nature.
Work with the county and the state to find ways to increase section 8 sites and funding locally.
Our homeless services are located all over our city. We need to work with government and non profits to try to centralize services.
Create a city promoted website for our local fashion industry that includes an ordering infrastructure and marketing.
Imagine a light rail system connecting Modesto. Many cities and counties of our size have systems. It's time to explore it.
Improve communication between residents and the forestry department. Create recommendations for new trees, low water vegetation, and drought tolerant plants. Publicize forestry goals to enlist the help of the public to rebuild Modesto's reputation as a tree city.
Partner with MJC's child development program to expand affordable childcare for city employees
Help inspire a mobile produce truck to service communities that are far removed from farmer's markets.

Find solutions to keep them flying out of Modesto for the foreseeable future. Look into what kind of federal incentives and support is available to help improve the airport.
Gallo is the biggest winery in the world. Having a Gallo Tasting room in Downtown Modesto would be an excellent destination for our community.
Dueling Pianos are awesome. We should have them play in a park in Modesto a couple times a year and market it to let the local community know it is happening.
Police use of force needs to be addressed. This process should be as public as possible to increase transparency.

The home of American Graffiti needs an American Graffiti Museum complete with cars and directions to local landmarks.
Make alleys into Art Galleries and Art Museums for special events.
Every Friday night local comedians give a take on life in Modesto streamed and on public access.
Create rent free spaces in parks for to launch and relaunch local businesses like restaurants and retail stores so they can build capital.
Right now public safety is asked to solve every problem our society has. We need to study the call logs and investigate new solutions to get better outcomes.
Encourage residents surrounding local schools to adopt a school and provide what they can to help our children succeed.
Modesto's Cinco De Mayo Festival is amazing, but it will get even better when the city embraces and promotes it.
When a city tree dies offer a free replacement tree of a variety that will keep our community beautiful and save money on maintenance.
Bring back X Fest as a musician owned festival with profits either going directly to the artists or funneled into the Modesto Area Music Association.
