Modesto City Newsletter December 2025
Councilmember Chris Ricci
Hey Modesto,
It was great spending time with family over the holidays, and I hope you were able to enjoy that same irreplaceable time together. A new year is coming and a lot is happening in Modesto, so here’s a quick update:
- Stanislaus Animal Services Reform: Service at the Stanislaus Animal Shelter has fallen to an unacceptable level. There is no plan to manage feral cat colonies and no program to provide basic spay and neuter services for dogs. At this point, animal services appears to function primarily as an intake operation for animal control. If you are tired of the excuses join us on Tuesday, December 30th at 1PM for our first day of action at the Valley Event Center at 623 H Street in Modesto.
- Crime is Way Down in 2025: Thanks to tech utilizations, deployment of new and expanded teams (CHAT, Rangers, and CSOs), and fuel from Measure H funding, Modesto PD was able to lower crime dramatically this year compared to 2024. Auto theft is down 44%, Commercial burglary is down 32%, and Robbery is down 23%. There also hasn’t been a murder in Modesto for over a year.
If you need me you can always call / text 209-312-3463 or just respond to this email.
